New Rucksack Universe story out this Rucksack Day, Mar. 19
With stories like Wander, Rucksack and the Cave, and Pink Hats and Burned Men, we’ve learned a great deal about lives lost, lives disrupted, and lives changed forever by the horrible day known as The Blast. We’ve seen heroes made and heroes fall and heroes seek redemption.
But there’s one person, one crucial person, who was critical to The Blast… but we haven’t seen anything about them yet.
That changes now.
On Mar. 19 I’m releasing a new Rucksack Universe story worldwide. Cobra or Mr. Cobra is based on a simple Indian proverb that’s stuck with me for decades:
“The cobra will bite you whether you call it cobra or Mr. Cobra.”
Written as part of The Great Challenge, I got the idea for this story when I was thinking about Ireland’s Cliffs of Moher. And the day of The Blast. What it would have looked like to stand on those cliffs and look north, to see the flames erupting out of Galway, the sky blackening and fire climbing to clouds.
Then I wondered what it would be like to find yourself at the edge of the Cliffs of Moher, burned and injured, with no memory not only of how you came to be there, but of who you had been up until that moment.
And then, as they say, things began to happen.
Cobra or Mr. Cobra will be available worldwide as an ebook on Mar. 19, 2020. You can pre-order it now, or become a patron at $5+ per month and get immediate access.
And that’s the news from the Rucksack Universe, where the beer is always cold, the locals are always friendly, and the food never makes you sick.
