Three-way tie is broken! The next story I publish will be…
💍The Wedding Chapel’s Bartender🥃
Jake Edinburgh’s first day on the job at the Dram Ring Pub and Wedding Chapel (walk-ins welcome!) is not at all what he expected—and that’s just from meeting Angus the ringmaker…
Edinburgh’s Royal Mile remains one of my favorite places to wander. I lived in Edinburgh for part of my early 20s. Many of my fondest memories and biggest decisions came during my time there.
For Week 08’s short story for The Great Challenge, I thought back on my time in Edinburgh. Walking the Mile. Staring up at Edinburgh Castle. Going into the many pubs. So when it came time to work on this story, I found my way quickly. Walking up to the top of the Royal Mile. Inventing a pub (and wedding chapel) right in the shadow of the Castle. And getting blindsided by a rather unexpected new character, who has way more mysteries to reveal to me—or to tell me to bugger off for asking.
I’ll be sending the story to my copy editor shortly. Once we’ve got the manuscript locked down, I’ll let you know when it’ll be released!
Patrons get the story before anyone else. Four weeks later the story will be out in ebook worldwide! Not a patron yet? Sign up now and get the new story first, along with other cool rewards.
